The challenge

To carry out a high-specification fitout project within a very tight timescale.

Where they were

Peninsula, the leading provider of employment law and health and safety services in the UK, was to move into new premises at Peninsula House, a new development in central Manchester.

Against tight local competition, Opl won the £3 million project for the category B fit out of six floors, with the ground floor and basement level being fitted out from shell and core. The client programme was important, requiring a high standard of work to be completed within 20 weeks on site; the main computer room and associate space in particular were required early in the programme.

What we did

We implemented rigorous weekly planning to keep the project on track, using the "last planner's" approach to control and plan all required resources. We achieved an excellent standard of safety on the works, with the handover of the computer room, associated facilities, power and cooling fully functional and completed on time.
